The beginning...

Hello Friends and Family,

So my dear sweet hubby asked me to continue my blog from our last adventure and move onto this next adventure.  It has been 4 years since we left for Amsterdam and it seems like it was just yesterday.  That was such a marvelous experience I was able to have and I am very grateful for it.

These past 4 years we have been living a typical American life…eat, sleep, work with some play mixed in.  In August 2012 we were blessed to be able to purchase a home for our future retirement.  Initially we thought my mom would move in but that just didn’t work out for different reasons.  So we have been using it as a vacation home for the past 2 years for us and our children.  We have already had a lot of fun times there and last Christmas I was blessed to have all of my children with me down there.  It was a crowd…a little hectic…a little stressful…but worth every minute!  There are not enough words for how much I love my family!

I think we have told most of you about the house but here’s a little recap.  It is a fairly small home but on a double lot and with a large screen porch…which you need in Florida...mosquitos!  The best thing about this home the Lord dropped in our lap is the location…it is just a street away from Coffee Pot Bayou which flows into the Tampa Bay.  Our home is located at the end of the bayou where the city put in a very wide walkway along the water’s edge that goes all the way into downtown St. Petersburg.  We walk or bike it just about every day…and the wildlife…so amazing…pelicans, ibis, herons, dolphins, turtles and manatees!  So exciting when you see them!  Dave has purchased a 20’ pontoon boat and on our last trip down there we had a blast going out on it…Dave and Joaquin were out just about everyday fishing!

So now to move on to this new adventure Dave and I are about to embark on.  While in Florida this summer we decided that since the real estate market was ripe for buyers we would put our house on the market in September.  We contacted our friend/neighbor realtor and had a meeting and went through all the paperwork and decided a date to put the house on the market.  It went on the market on Labor Day…we had a few showings on Tuesday and Wednesday and by Wednesday afternoon we had an offer from the first young couple who saw it.  Dave got to meet them when they came on Tuesday and thought they were the perfect couple for the house.  She works for the Zoo and he is a Marine Biologist…they wanted a property that had room for their dogs, a garden and to start a family.

This is a very bittersweet adventure…we love this house and we have a lot of great memories here with a lot of great friends and family!  I was hoping we would have time to have a “good bye” party but it just wasn’t meant to be.  We will be closing escrow on October 6th and moving to our new “home”!

Our new “home”…our Airstream trailer!  We have decided to try the trailer life for a while and see how it goes.  Guess you just can’t take the “south” out of some people!  J  Dave has totally renovated the trailer to make more room for us and the “boys”!  All of you know we have 2 very large “boys”!  Dave has also purchased a screen room that attaches to the awning which will give us an extra “room”.  He purchased the privacy panels so we can keep it open with screening or close it up.

Right now I am packing, packing, packing…containers come tomorrow and Saturday we will start filling them up.  They will be shipped to Florida then Dave and I will fly over to unload the containers.

I think I have given you enough information for now!  I will keep you posted as we move along through this adventure!
